Meet The Team
The people behind your morning
Roasters, bakers, cooks and coffee nerds. Plus one very good dog. Say hi next time you’re in.
Who’s making your coffee
A small team that’s been together a while. Most of us started on the old coffee cart.
-
Mia Carter
Owner & head roaster
Started Tidepool as a coffee cart outside the surf club. Still roasts every batch herself on Monday mornings.
Usual: Long black -
Jono Reyes
Head chef
Ten years in hotel kitchens before trading late nights for early mornings. The fish tacos are his fault.
Usual: Iced latte -
Priya Nair
Café manager
Keeps the rosters, the suppliers and the rest of us in line. Knows every regular’s name and order.
Usual: Chai, extra spicy -
Sam O’Donnell
Head barista
Runs our home barista classes and will happily talk extraction times until you politely back away.
Usual: Single-origin piccolo -
Lucy Tran
Pastry chef
In at 4am so the sourdough and banana bread are ready by opening. Responsible for the hotcakes situation.
Usual: Flat white, oat -
Biscuit
Chief morale officer
Greets every dog in the courtyard, supervises deliveries and accepts pats as payment. Very good boy.
Usual: Puppuccino
A few things we care about
Local first
Beans, milk, eggs and bread come from growers and makers within an hour’s drive wherever we can manage it.
No rushed coffee
Busy or not, every coffee gets the same care. If it’s not right, we’ll remake it, no questions asked.
Look after the crew
Fair rosters, proper training and paid barista courses. Happy staff make better coffee. It’s science, probably.
We’re sometimes hiring
Love coffee, early starts and chatting to locals? Send us a note with a bit about yourself. No fancy CV needed.
